PUBG was a very popular mobile game across the world. Also, this game was very popular in the Indian market and had a huge user base in the country. Be it, youngsters or middle-aged persons, everyone was engaged in playing PUBG, some for fun and some for income. Yes, a lot of popular YouTubers used to stream this game online and earn a huge chunk of money. But now, all that is gone as the Indian Government has banned PUBG in India. This step of the Indian Government has not only hit the PUBG fans but also the company as India was a big market for them. So, now PUBG Mobile is in talks with Reliance Jio to bring the game back to India. Here is everything you need to know about the PUBG Game and Reliance Jio Partnership.
PUBG Game and Reliance Jio Partnership
So, the Indian Government banned PUBG and 118 other mobile applications on September 2, 2020. This step was taken under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act. The Indian Government cited that the PUBG mobile application is engaged in activities that are prejudicial to the country’s sovereignty and integrity and also defense and security of the country.
After this extreme step of the Indian Government, PUBG Corporation (a South Korean tech company) announced that it has revoked distribution rights for the game in India from Tencent (a Chinese company) and will be publishing it on its own in India. Since the objection was related to data leaking, PUBG is now in talks with Reliance Jio (which is a big Indian company) as they think partnering with Reliance Jio could be the answer to all the problems.

According to The Hindu, “The talks are in an early stage, which began just after the government’s second round of bans. Officials from both sides are working out the contours of how to structure various aspects of the deal.” Also, another source added, “Legal experts from both sides are exploring possibilities on how revenues should be split, whether it would be 50:50 or Jio guaranteeing PUBG revenues based on a fixed number of users every month”. This means that the talks between PUBG and Reliance Jio are now in its initial stage and both the companies have put their legal teams to work out the details for revenue splitting. Either the revenue will be split on a 50:50 basis or the revenue will be decided based on a fixed number of users every month.
If this deal happens, it will be a win situation for everyone. Reliance Jio will churn out huge money, PUBG will make a comeback and can gain huge popularity once again and the Indian PUBG fans will also love it. However, the talk is in the initial stage as of now and nothing can be commented.
